Fisher House Donation 2016

Posted by Dawn Wilson

Timco Rubber has announced it will once again, for the third consecutive year, contribute $1,000.00 to the Greater Cleveland Fisher House Foundation. Based in Rockville, MD, the foundation is best known for the network of comfort homes built on the grounds of major military hospitals and Veterans Administration medical centers. Today, there are 70 Fisher Houses across the country, in Germany and the United Kingdom. More than 277,000 families have been provided 6.5 million nights of lodging, saving them more than $320 million since the program began in 1990.

The Greater Cleveland Fisher House will actually be two homes with 12-14 suites and will accommodate up to 50 family members. The houses will be built adjacent to the grounds of the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center in University Circle. Military family members stay free of charge while their injured or ill loved one receives treatment, procedures, operations or rehabilitation. The mission statement of the Fisher House Foundation: Fisher House Foundation strives to improve the lives of our greatest national treasure…our service men and women and their families.  Through our network of Fisher Houses and Hero Miles program we look to unite families during a loved one’s hospitalization because we truly believe a family’s love is good medicine.
